Why is it called 21st Gentleman?

I think in today’s world we are losing the true meaning of being a gentleman, or at least confusing it with what mainstream media thinks it is. I’m an old fashioned guy that married an old fashioned girl. We live our life quite differently than others in our generation. My goal is to define what it means to be the same old fashioned gentleman in modern times. I try to live my life as an example, I love fishing and the outdoors, went to school for construction and learned how to build a house from the ground up. I also love to cook, I know how to sew and knit, my family always comes before my work, I love gardening and landscaping when the weathers nice. My point is that the “men” of today think that being a man is all about being a big, buff, beer drinking, workaholic that couldn’t boil water or use a broom. I got news for ya, that ain’t it!! Stay tuned to learn all about being a 21st Century Gentleman.

One website, Four great Pages

It all started with Covid, after everything shutdown and I was stuck at home for a month. I needed something to pour my extra time into. I started 21st Gentleman as a blog to write about my old time ways in modern time. On my blog you will see a big variety of topics like travel, fishing, cooking, woodworking, and more. What can I say… I have too many hobbies.

One of them being Lucylicious Fishing, our fishing team lead by my brother-in-law Brian Shorey. We are on the boat, Lucylicous 4, almost every weekend from May to October we are on Lake Erie trolling for walleye. Our main target species is walleye and we have averaged around 300 each summer, however the walleye don’t always bite. In the colder months before the lake warms up, we will target steelhead and lake trout as well. A few of us have been fishing together for almost a decade, the original crew of 4 is our captain, Brian Shorey, Neil Bradshaw, Johnny Stevens, and myself Jake Cramer. Of course there is no limit to the friends you can make while fishing. Other frequents aboard Lucylicous 4 are, Bill Geiger, Billy Geiger, and Zach Boylan. With a good crew going that work very well together we are starting to get involved in walleye tournaments on Lake Erie. When the weather starts to turn cold and that nasty white stuff starts falling from the sky, Captain Brian and Johnny journey down to the Florida Keys with the Lucylicous 4 where they target swordfish, blackfin tuna, mahi mahi, and even set traps for the Florida stone crab. Captain Brian, Johnny, and Bill also caught a world record Pomfret in 2023, weighing in at 19.8 lbs.

As fishing season slowed down, Cramer Craft was started. I always wanted to make my own leather holster and knife sheaths, so I bought the necessary tools and supplies to make my very own gun holster. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with leatherworking. After I sold a few more projects, I invested in a diode laser engraver. I started out with a pretty big learning curve, never having worked with any kind of CNC machine, but I got it dialed in within the first month and now offer custom laser engraving! started Cramer Craft. It didn’t take long for it to grow past leather, today Cramer Craft involves woodworking, stone carving, and laser engraving too! Local interest was starting to grow for Cramer Craft and I was asked to do some custom rock carvings for a couple friends and neighbors. Never wanting to turn down an opportunity I accepted the challenge, and loved every minute of carving. After a few custom rock carvings I had earned enough to invest in another machine that I have been interested in since I was a young kid, a woodturning lathe. I had a slight knowledge of how lathes worked after taking a metalworking class in high school, but a woodturning lathe is a completely different and dangerous machine. So I gave it due diligence by watching videos and chatting with experienced woodturners to ensure I wouldn’t mame myself the first time using it! As with every other type of woodworking I fell in love immediately. I started turning a ton of bowls and gave them away as gifts. As I started getting a feel for the tools I journeyed into making more intricate pieces like wooden honey pots and candle pillars.

The last page was more my wife’s doing, photographing and making video reels of my cooking dishes for Instagram, our page is called Cramer Cooks. I’ve been cooking and baking as long as I can remember, my mother was a great cook and I learned a lot from my grandma’s as well. As a proud Italian, I absolutely love making traditional Italian food as well as putting an italian twist on anything else! I’ve been working on writing down some of my recipes so you can make the same delicious italian food at home!
