What is Shrimp Scampi?

Great question! Shrimp scampi is a delectable seafood pasta dish originating from the Mediterranean Area. Instead of a cream or tomato base sauce, scampi is made with a light olive oil and garlic sauce. Traditionally served with linguine or angel hair pasta, but feel free to mix it up!

  • Linguine is a long flat noodle similar to fettucini but slightly thinner. Angel Hair

  • Though there are many ways to make scampi sauce, the basic ingredients are olive oil, butter, and garlic. (Dry white wine is optional and highly recommended!)

  • Be sure to get raw shrimp, medium sized, peeled and deveined (unless you want to take the time and do it yourself.

Shrimp Scampi perfecto

  • 1.5lbs Raw Shrimp (peeled, deveined)

  • 1 lb Linguine or Angel Hair

  • 1 1/2 C Butter

  • 2 C Olive Oil

  • 4 cloves garlic (minced or pressed)

  • 2 Tbsp Parsley

  • 1/4 C Grated Parmesan Cheese

  • 1/2 C Dry white wine (optional)

  1. Once you have all of your ingredients measured and prepped, begin by heating a large skillet on the stove, medium high heat.

  2. When the skillet starts to ‘smoke’ or ‘steam’ put all of the shrimp into the pan with enough olive oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Cook for 2 minutes turning the shrimp over frequently, then reduce heat to medium

  3. Add the parsley, garlic, and white wine and simmer for 1 minute

  4. Add butter, grated parmesan and the rest of the olive oil

  5. Serve on top of cooked linguine or angel hair
